Baby it's Cold Outside

Definitely getting colder. I don't think the temps here got out of the 30s yesterday. We had what could be called the first snow of the season. It came down, but with the temperatures of the previous day in the mid-70s, the ground was warm enough to melt it on contact. Still, by the end of the day there were some dusty looking trees in the upper elevations. It stayed cold too. I think the temps dropped below freezing last night and even now it's barely 36 degrees. Winter is definitely coming on. We've done a bit of planning by running down to town and getting a couple of electric heaters and some snow boots for Nick. We've started dragging out our winter clothes and trading them for the T-shirts and shorts we've been wearing. You see, living in a cramped space like this 31 foot Airstream leaves you with some essential choices. There is often not enough room for everything you want so you have to pack up a few things and store them away. Not a big deal when you have a home to return to but when a place like this becomes your home, it's required.

Speaking of space and permanent home... since it looks like I may be able to work in and around Colorado Springs for the forseeable future, we'll probably settle here permanently and that means finding someplace with more room. We hope to get out and drive around the town today -- something we've been wanting to do but usually couldn't with all the rain -- and see what sort of possibilities exist. Right now, even though it's cold, the sun is high and smiling on us. I'll let you know what we find...
